Job summary

AFB International, part of the Ensign-Bickford Industries family, seeks a Global Controls Project Engineer to lead electrical, controls and automation work across capital projects. Based at Saint Charles, MO or Aurora, MO, you will guide projects from concept to completion and help improve manufacturing reliability and safety.

You will manage scopes, budgets, schedules, vendor coordination, FATs, and startup, while aligning with global standards and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• At least three years of experience in electrical engineering, controls, automation, capital projects, or industrial manufacturing.
• Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, industrial networks, instrumentation, control panels, drives, and automation systems.
• Experience with electrical documentation, control systems, equipment integration, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting.
• Experience collaborating with suppliers, system integrators, contractors, consultants, and plant personnel.
• Ability to develop scopes, estimates, schedules, procurement documents, change control, and project closeout materials.
• Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage costs, evaluate alternatives, prioritize work, and adapt to changing environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead controls projects from concept through completion.
• Manage electrical, controls, and automation projects typically under $500,000—from planning through closeout.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams on requirements, schedules, and costs.
• Execute projects independently while meeting safety, quality, cost, schedule, and scope expectations.
• Develop electrical and controls scopes, design criteria, specifications, I/O and network requirements, bid packages, and procurement docs.
• Review drawings, narratives, panels, PLC/HMI documentation, network architecture, alarms, interlocks, and operator interfaces.
