Job summary

Crowell & Moring LLP is seeking a Controller to lead the Firm’s accounting function, overseeing general ledger, monthly close, financial reporting, internal controls, and related operations. TheController will drive automation, support strategic initiatives, and collaborate across the Firm’s Finance leadership team.

The role also oversees accounting activities for international offices, mentors the Accounting team, ensures client trust accounting compliance, and advances process improvements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field.
• CPA license required; equivalent experience may be considered.
• 10+ years leading accounting functions in a large, complex organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full accounting function including general ledger; monthly close; balance sheet reconciliations; internal controls; fixed assets; payroll accounting; external audits.
• Oversee preparation of monthly and year-end financial statements.
• Manage banking activities including cash forecasting and relationships with bank representatives.
• Coordinate accounting activities of international offices to align with global processes.
• Mentor and develop the Accounting team, driving accountability and process discipline.
• Identify opportunities to optimize workflows using automation and technology.
• Provide leadership on ERP configurations and workflows.
• Oversee client trust accounting to ensure compliance and timely resolution of items.
• Lead compliance initiatives to safeguard against errors, fraud, and irregularities.
• Serve as Accounting lead on cross-functional projects and system implementations.
