Job summary

K&L Gates is seeking a Global Controller to lead worldwide accounting operations, drive strategic direction, and ensure financial integrity across the firm’s 40+ offices. You will oversee reporting, payroll, treasury, payables, and controls, reporting to the CFO and partnering with firm leadership.

You will manage a dispersed team of accounting professionals, develop accounting policies, and lead modernization projects in reporting, billing, and analytics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA required (or equivalent)
• 10+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience
• Experience in professional services, law firm, or partnership environment
• Demonstrated experience managing complex multi-entity, multi-currency operations
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and multi-jurisdictional compliance
• Proven leadership of large accounting teams and cross-country staff
• Proficiency with ERP and billing/collections systems such as 3E or Aderant

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee the accounting function across 40+ offices
• Oversee financial reporting and compliance with local statutory standards
• Lead international compliance initiatives and audits
• Develop and monitor accounting policies and internal controls
• Manage external audit process and remediation activities
• Mentor and develop a large accounting team and raise performance
• Work with CFO and FP&A on planning, analysis and forecasting
• Drive financial system modernization and automation initiatives
• Coordinate with other firm departments on financial matters
