Job summary

Cengage Group, a global education technology company, is seeking a Staff Accountant, Global Accounting & Reporting in the United States. You will support financial close, prepare journals, perform reconciliations, and assist with consolidated reporting across the enterprise.

In this role you will work with accounting and finance teams to ensure accurate reporting, assist with BlackLine tasks, and drive continuous improvements in close processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience.
• 1–3 years in accounting, financial reporting, or audit.
• Public accounting experience preferred.
• Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial statements.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Attention to detail and strong organization.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced close.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with accounting, finance, and cross-functional teams.
• Curiosity about consolidations and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Support financial close processes by preparing journals and reconciliations.
• Perform balance sheet analyses, run reports, and follow up on open items.
• Maintain documentation supporting reconciliations and close activities.
• Conduct analytical reviews of reconciliation populations for quality.
• Assist with recurring BlackLine tasks and reconciliation workstreams.
• Perform routine financial-data validations and system tie-outs.
• Support audit requests by gathering reports and docs.
• Research account/reporting differences and document findings.
• Coordinate with accounting and finance to obtain supporting information.
• Assist with BlackLine issue resolution and action item monitoring.
• Support other consolidations and financial-reporting activities as assigned.
