Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated seeks an Executive Director of Performance Excellence & Business Transformation for Global Clinical Operations. This role leads end-to-end optimization of clinical trials, oversees global transformation programs, and advances digital capabilities including AI/ML strategies.

The role reports to the Head of Global Clinical Operations and is part of the Leadership team, guiding governance, KPI development, and strategic workforce planning across regions and CRO

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Operations, or related field.
• Advanced degree (MS, MPH, PharmD, MBA, PhD) preferred.
• 15+ years of leadership in Global Clinical Operations, R&D Operations, Clinical Development, or related functions.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiyear transformation roadmap to modernize Global Clinical Operations.
• Identify opportunities to streamline trial planning, site startup, enrollment, data collection, cleaning, and closeout.
• Drive harmonization and standardization of GCO processes across regions, therapies, and CROs.
• Develop governance frameworks for clinical transformation initiatives with KPIs and benefits realization.
• Collaborate with DTE to accelerate adoption of modern clinical technologies.
• Embed analytics and predictive modeling to identify enrollment risks and optimize operations.
• Oversee study and operational metrics, and lead dashboard development.
• Drive GCO resource strategy and allocation.
• Identify and deploy novel site and patient-facing technologies for end-to-end deployment.
