Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals in Boston is seeking an Executive Director, Performance Excellence & Business Transformation to drive end-to-end optimization of Global Clinical Operations, advance digital capabilities, and lead transformation initiatives across trials.

You will build and execute a multi-year strategy, lead a high-performing team, and partner with CROs, vendors, and internal groups to improve trial delivery while ensuring regulatory compliance and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Operations, or related field.
• Advanced degree (MS, MPH, PharmD, MBA, PhD) preferred.
• 15+ years of leadership in Global Clinical Operations or related functions within pharma, biotech, or CRO.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-year transformation roadmap to modernize Global Clinical Operations.
• Identify opportunities to streamline planning, site startup, enrollment, data collection, and closeout.
• Oversee governance for transformation initiatives with KPIs and benefits realization.
• Embed analytics and predictive modeling to optimize study delivery and operational decisions.
• Collaborate with CROs, vendors, and internal partners to ensure performance and efficiency across outsourced studies.
