Job summary

Argo Group is seeking a VP, Ceded Reinsurance to lead the end-to-end outward treaty reinsurance placements for the Clearbrook Group across property and casualty lines. You will partner with global brokers and reinsurers to structure programs that protect the group’s capital and balance sheet while advancing strategic objectives.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience in Reinsurance (broking, underwriting, or buying/ceded).
• Deep understanding of insurance, reinsurance, and actuarial principles related to contract structuring and pricing.
• Exceptional negotiation and communication skills; able to influence senior executives and global stakeholders.
• Operational excellence with high attention to detail in complex quantitative tasks.
• Proficiency working with exposure management, capital modeling, and finance.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end lifecycle of annual treaty placements from structure proposals to execution.
• Direct the preparation of external submissions for the global reinsurance market.
• Serve as liaison among underwriting, claims, actuarial, capital modeling, exposure management, finance, and group legal.
• Drive negotiations with intermediaries and reinsurers for optimal terms, conditions, and pricing.
• Present updates to the Reinsurance Committee (CEO, CFO, CRO) and advise on market developments and risks.
• Ensure timely delivery of contractual documents and compliance with internal/regulatory timeframes.
• Refine treaty wording to ensure protection and clarity across segments.
• Oversee counterparty risk and conduct ad-hoc capital impact analyses for special projects.
• Mentor junior associates and plan resources for ceded reinsurance function.
