Business Development Director – US Defense Sector

Defense Sector Experience and a DoD Security Clearance are required for this position.

We seek a seasoned Business Development Director specializing in the U.S. Defense Sector to join our global team. This role will be based in the U.S., aligning with Ericsson’s strategic focus on expanding its presence in the North American market.

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with Ericsson US local teams to foster innovation within the U.S. Defense sector's mobile communications ecosystem, supporting the DoD's FutureG plans.
  • Oversee strategic initiatives to remove barriers, strengthen partnerships, and boost US Defense sector mobile communications innovation.
  • Engage with senior industry executives to position Ericsson as a leader in MCN innovation and participate in industry forums.
  • Lead cross-functional teams on high-impact market and business development programs, mentoring junior staff.
  • Track and document market development initiatives to ensure measurable results aligned with Ericsson's goals.

The position requires:

  • Deep understanding of the critical communications market, including industry dynamics, regulations, and ecosystem.
  • Experience with business development and procurement processes involving government and defense agencies.
  • Knowledge of operational requirements and delivery models in defense communications.
  • Understanding of complex technology solution implementation in defense contexts.
  • Familiarity with business models and lifecycle cost management over long periods.

You will bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, with solid knowledge of the mobile communications market.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the US Defense market, recognized and respected within the industry.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with adaptability and proactive planning skills.
  • Resilience and perseverance through long sales cycles.
  • Customer-oriented approach with the ability to understand and add value to end-user environments.
  • Strong analytical skills for market analysis and strategic planning.
  • Collaborative spirit, empathy, and integrity in diverse, multinational environments.
  • Proven track record in driving large-scale initiatives in US Defense sector business development or related fields.
  • Strategic vision to influence industry standards and innovate in mobile communications for defense.
