Business Development Director – US Defense Sector

Defense Sector Experience and a DoD Security Clearance is Required for this position. We seek a seasoned Business Development Director specializing in the U.S. Defense Sector to join our global team. This role will be based in the U.S., aligning with Ericsson’s strategic focus on expanding its presence in the North American market.

As a business development leader, you will:

• Manage strategic programs and initiatives to drive impactful market development in the US Defense sector.
• Enhance mobile communications innovation for the US Defense sector, aligning with Ericsson’s strategic goals.
• Shape how defense organizations leverage mission-critical connectivity for operational excellence.

What You Will Do

1. US Innovation Focus: Collaborate with Ericsson US teams to develop and deploy leading-edge solutions supporting the DoD's FutureG plans.
2. Strategic Initiatives: Oversee initiatives to remove barriers, strengthen partnerships, and boost US Defense sector mobile communications innovation.
3. Market Engagement: Engage with senior industry executives to position Ericsson as a leader in MCN innovation.
4. Cross-Functional Coordination: Lead teams on market and business development programs, mentoring junior staff.
5. Performance Oversight: Track market development initiatives for measurable results.

The position requires:

• Deep understanding of the critical communications market, including industry economics, regulations, and ecosystem.
• Experience with government and public agency procurement processes.
• Knowledge of operational requirements and complex technology implementation in defense communications.
• Understanding of business models and lifecycle costs over long periods.

You will bring

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar, with solid mobile communications knowledge.
• At least 10 years of experience in the US Defense market, recognized in the industry.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, adaptability, resilience, and customer orientation.
• Strong analytical skills and experience in strategic planning and execution.
• Proven ability to work in diverse, multinational environments with empathy and leadership.
