Smithfield Foods seeks a lead for automation and controls who will shape global architecture, validate advanced manufacturing tech, and ensure safety and compliance across facilities. You will drive technology transfer between U.S. and China operations, collaborate with OEMs, and guide digital manufacturing initiatives.

The role requires blending engineering excellence with strategic leadership in a global context, travel readiness, and a track record of delivering complex automation projects.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Controls/Automation/Robotics or related field is required.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, networks, controls architecture, and machine safety.
• 5+ years of experience in industrial automation, controls, robotics, or manufacturing engineering.
• Experience with global engineering teams, OEMs, and multi-site manufacturing is preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, RIA, NFPA, UL and electrical codes.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
• Ability to travel domestically >50% and internationally as required.

Responsabilidades

• Automation & Controls Strategy: Lead development, review, and standardization of controls architectures, PLCs, HMIs, networks, data platforms, and enterprise automation standards across global operations.
• Technology Qualification & Validation: Lead qualification, validation, and acceptance testing of automation, robotics, machine vision, inspection technologies, and advanced manufacturing systems for performance and compliance.
• Machine Safety & Compliance: Conduct safety assessments and controls reviews to ensure OSHA/ANSI/RIA/NFPA/UL compliance and mitigate risks.
• Global Technology Transfer: Partner with U.S., China, WH Group teams to transfer and standardize proven automation technologies across facilities.
• Innovation & Smart Manufacturing: Collaborate with OEMs and internal stakeholders to implement AI-enabled inspection and digital manufacturing technologies.
• Equipment & Systems Evaluation: Evaluate processing controls, packaging systems, robotics, machine vision, X-ray, metal detection, checkweighing, traceability for effectiveness.
• Supplier & System Assessment: Conduct supplier audits and equipment reviews to identify risks early in projects.
• Capital Project Leadership: Lead and advise on strategic capital projects with U.S. compliance modifications.
