Job summary

Lead Application Engineer in Irvine, CA, responsible for translating customer needs between field and lab, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to optimize encapsulant applications and assembly processes. Travel up to 25% globally, with on-site customer support as needed.

The role requires a strong background in circuit board encapsulants and surface mount technology, plus demonstrated customer engagement skills and collaboration with Sales/Product Development/Marketing teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or materials science.
• 7+ years of experience in R&D or application engineering, or Doctorate with 5+ years.
• Direct customer support experience required.
• Experience with material handling such as dispensing and printing is a plus.
• Knowledge of statistical analysis using Minitab and/or JMP desirable.
• Experience collaborating with Sales/Product Development/Marketing teams is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Serve as interface between field and lab to translate customer needs for new applications and products.
• Design and administer internal screening evaluations of developmental and commercialized products.
• Optimize material assembly processes and troubleshoot product/process problems for customers.
• Provide global on-site support and travel up to 25% for consumer electronics manufacturing customers.
