Job summary

Central Business Solutions, Inc. seeks a Lead Application Engineer in Irvine, CA to bridge field and lab needs for encapsulant applications in electronics. You’ll design screenings, optimize assembly, and troubleshoot with customers worldwide.

Expect 50% time with Lab-Application Engineering and 50% with customers, including global travel up to 25%. A strong engineering or materials science background and direct customer support are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master’s degree with 7+ years in R&D or application engineering, or a PhD with 5+ years experience.
• Education in engineering or materials science is required.
• Direct customer support experience is required.
• Experience in material handling such as dispensing and printing is a plus.
• Knowledge of statistics using Minitab and/or JMP desirable.
• Cross-functional Sales/PD/Marketing collaboration is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Interface between field and lab to translate customers’ needs for new applications and products.
• Design and administer internal screening evaluations of products.
• Optimize material assembly processes and troubleshoot product/process issues for customers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams globally and provide global on-site support as needed.
• Travel up to 25% globally.
• Bridge customer needs with Lab-Application Engineering 50% of the time.
