Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking an Accountant III (NS) in the General Ledger Unit of the Financial Management Division to perform advanced accounting analysis and reports. This role serves as business liaison for SAP/FMIS upgrades, provides technical guidance and supports forecasts and SOPs linking GL activities to other finance functions.

Occasional system testing and collaboration with management and field staff are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field with 18 accounting hours
• Four years of professional accounting/auditing experience
• Knowledge of GAAP and GASB standards
• Ability to communicate requirements to developers and admins

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced accounting analysis and prepare related reports.
• Offer technical guidance to accountants and project teams.
• Serve as liaison to SAP/FMIS upgrades and integrations.
• Create forecasting tools and financial reports for executives.
• Manage daily, monthly, and yearly controlling and cost disbursement.
• Coordinate time entry, cost assessment, and federal billing.
