Job summary

NC Department of Transportation is seeking an Accountant III in the General Ledger Unit to perform advanced accounting analysis, prepare financial statements, and support the organization with SAP/FMIS platform upgrades.

The role will guide junior staff, interact with program administrators, and help produce forecasting tools and SOPs linking general ledger activities to broader finance functions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field with 18 accounting coursework and four years of professional accounting/auditing experience.
• Experience interpreting complex federal/state fiscal regulations and applying GAAP/GASB.
• Ability to communicate requirements to developers and project managers in SAP/FMIS upgrades.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced accounting analysis and prepare reports for general ledger functions.
• Provide technical guidance to other accountants and staff.
• Coordinate with SAP/FMIS teams on upgrades and integrations and support forecasting and SOPs.
