There are two primary purposes for this position: This position provides advanced accounting analysis by conducting research and preparing reports related to NCDOT’s general ledger functions. Position provides technical guidance to other accountants on the team, and professional roles in the field, related to general ledger accounting in accordance with all generally accepted accounting principles. Position serves as the business liaison and communicates business requirements to developers, project managers, and platform administrators engaged in SAP/FMIS platform upgrades and integrations. Work also involves creating analytical forecasting tools and financial reports to advise agency executive leadership and the review and preparation of SOPs tying all general ledger activities to other finance functions. This position is to manage daily, monthly, and yearly controlling functions and cost disbursement activities. Statewide Time Entry is managed in the controlling module and is basic to cost assessment, Federal billing and fair reporting in general. Scheduling and operation of duties on demand are a critical part of the job responsibilities.
