Job summary

National Veterinary Associates (NVA) is seeking a GL Accounting Manager to lead the general ledger team, ensure accuracy of financial results, and drive the monthly close with strong controls. This role bridges staff and Finance leadership, delivering concise reporting and guiding technical accounting research.

You will supervise accountants, coordinate with FP&A, Operations, and other functions, and support Oracle ERP initiatives to transform processes. A background in U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 2+ years leading accounting professionals.
• Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge and general ledger accounting.
• Experience with month-end close, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Advanced Excel skills (XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, PivotTables).
• Analytical, detail-oriented, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of accountants with coaching and growth opportunities.
• Own key components of the monthly close process.
• Review journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and variance analyses.
• Escalate and resolve accounting questions with minimal management input.
• Collaborate with FP&A, Operations, AP, Treasury, Legal to improve processes.
• Support system initiatives, Oracle ERP enhancements, and integrations.
• Identify trends and errors in complex accounts and take corrective action.
• Handle assigned areas and drive issues to resolution.
• Assist with ad hoc analyses and special projects.
