Job summary

CSU Stanislaus is seeking a temporary, hourly Student Assistant in the Capital Planning and Design department. Duties include creating and maintaining GIS databases using Trimble GPS, updating campus maps, and importing CAD data from campus files.

Requirements include enrollment in 6 Fall/Spring units for undergrads or 4 units for graduate students; GIS and ArcGIS experience preferred. Start Sept 7, 2026; end by May 31, 2027, with potential reappointment.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
  • Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.
  • Geography Major or MSIS – Geospatial Analysis preferred but not required.
  • Possess excellent customer service skills, motivation, dependability, punctuality, and a positive attitude; ability to work on projects with minimal supervision and/or with a team.

Responsibilities

  • Create, update, and maintain GIS database, utilizing Trimble GPS equipment and software to locate campus information.
  • Some projects will require importing CAD data from existing campus files.
  • Collect information by field survey to update campus maps, such as utilities, trees, floor plans and other campus features.
  • Maintain and update the campus space allocation drawings.
  • Perform other duties or projects as assigned.

  • Temporary hourly-intermittent student assistant position available in Capital Planning and Design.
  • Start Date
  • Positionavailable on or after September 7, 2026 and ending on or before May 31, 2027. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.

    • Current Stanislaus State student (must be at Junior level or higher).
    • Geography Major or MSIS – Geospatial Analysis preferred but not required.
    • Knowledge of GIS, GPS and Remote Sensing and experience using ArcGIS.
    • Familiarity of other campus mapping projects preferred.
    • Possess excellent customer service skills, motivation, dependability, punctuality, and a positive attitude; ability to work on projects with minimal supervision and/or with a team.

    Required Qualifications:
    • Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
    • Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.
