Research Corporation of the University of Hawai‘i seeks a GIS Research/Data Technician for the Kahului, Maui area to support the Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit with GIS mapping, data collection, and geodatabase management using ArcGIS Pro and GPS tools.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 1–3 years of experience in heritage management or outdoor recreation GIS, with strong data organization, writing, and communication skills. This is a Maui-based, regular full-time position.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
1–3 years of experience with ArcGIS Pro and heritage management; outdoor recreation GIS experience in Hawai‘i or similar location.
Knowledge of GIS software and GPS tools.
Ability to write and comprehend planning documents and prepare maps.
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

Compile and update trails inventory and forestry information using ArcGIS Pro, GPS, and field data recorders.
Prepare GIS layers, maps, graphics, and other materials.
Maintain a Geodatabase of captured data.
Collaborate with partner agencies to expand capacity.
Conduct field data collection and GPS corrections.
Organize content for community outreach events and presentations (in-person/virtual).
