Job summary

Hawaiian Electric is seeking a GIS Technician to support three islands (Oahu, Maui, or Hawaii Island). The role performs GIS and CAD drawings, maintains geospatial records, and ensures data integrity across OMS and SAP systems.

Candidates should have a two-year GIS curriculum or equivalent, a valid Hawaii driver’s license, and drafting experience is a plus. Work schedule is Monday–Friday; wage is $33.35/hour, posting ends 08/12/2026.

Qualifications

Must have or qualify for a Hawaii driver’s license.
Two-year GIS curriculum or equivalent on-the-job training.
Experience in electrical utility is desirable.
Drafting experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

Creates, updates, and maintains system facility maps and other drawings such as switching diagrams, single-line diagrams, Load Dispatch boards, and related maps/records across service territories.
Establishes standards for connectivity, CIS data, GIS/SAP linking, device/structure numbering, etc.
Ensures accuracy of the GIS data model that feeds programs like OMS and SAP across service territories.
Coordinates GIS data and updates asset attributes, locations, and customer information with internal departments.
Acts as SME for GIS inquiries and changes to ensure system integrity.
Performs QA/QC audits on eGIS core data using GIS and CAD tools.
Assists and tests new applications or tools before production use.
Performs field checks of equipment installations to validate maps and drawings.
Coordinates with Designers and Engineers for detailed drawings for field installations.
