Job summary

Research Corporation of the University of Hawai‘i seeks a Field Project Technician to support the Natural Area Reserves Program in Kamuela, Hawai‘i. You will assist with habitat restoration, monitoring, and invasive species control, while coordinating volunteers and collecting field data.

The role requires map and GPS skills, ability to operate 4x4 vehicles, and adherence to safety training including First Aid/CPR.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Participates in activities with the Natural Area Reserves System (NARS) and DOFAW.
• Performs resource management, ecosystem restoration, and monitoring around the Island of Hawai‘i.
• Monitors and controls non-native plants and invasive animals in NARS.
• Drives project vehicle to work sites.
• Establishes and monitors transects to evaluate forest recovery and plant distribution, including rare and endangered species.
• Collects and analyzes field data.
• Coordinates activities of volunteers in alien plant control, feral animal control, and other field work.
