Job summary

Baxter & Woodman, Inc. is seeking a GIS Intern who will work from the Milwaukee, WI, or Crystal Lake, IL offices and participate in field and client-site projects. You will support the GIS department with mapping tasks, ArcGIS Online configuration, and on-site data collection.

The role requires enrolling in a 4-year Geography/GIS program and the ability to lift 50 lbs, travel regionally, and collaborate with team members to deliver high-quality work.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a 4-year Geography degree with GIS emphasis.
• Ability to perform field GPS data collection.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel across Chicagoland.

Responsibilities

• Report to the Spatial Technology Department Manager for work responsibilities, scheduling, and tasks.
• Perform office-based mapping tasks including hardcopy, digital, and web-based products.
• Assist with ArcGIS Online maps and app configuration and support.
• Provide field-based GPS data collection of utilities, pavement, signage, ADA, as-builts, etc.
• Provide onsite work for municipal clients and field-based projects as needed.
