Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Field Service Engineer for Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) to work at customer substations across the United States. You will provide hands-on engineering support through installation, commissioning, testing, acceptance, and handover in active environments.

The role requires 2–5 years of field service experience, an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree, and the ability to travel up to 80%. Fluency in English and a valid US driver’s license are essential.

Qualifications

• Candidate must be eligible to work in the United States.
• 2–5 years of proven field service experience.
• Technical diploma/degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Willing to travel up to 80% (including to Canada and Mexico).
• Valid US driver's license required.
• Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support throughout GIS project execution, including installation, commissioning, testing, acceptance, and handover.
• On-site supervision for installation and commissioning of GIS substations.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts with field personnel and subcontractors.
• Oversee contracted maintenance activities to ensure quality and timeliness.
• Maintain detailed site documentation and reports (operational procedures, test data, manuals).
• Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and customers for smooth site execution.
• Ensure proper use and care of tools, equipment, and materials on site.
