Job summary
UDC is seeking a full-time System Engineer to serve as an enterprise technology professional for the Enterprise Architecture Practice Area, providing technical direction and problem-solving expertise for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) projects.
We anticipate business travel up to 50% at times. The role modernizes on-premise systems, builds enterprise solutions, and delivers architecture and deployment documentation across GIS environments and datacenters.
Qualifications
- 8–11 years in enterprise system consulting and large-scale tech projects.
- 3–7 years in enterprise GIS with system implementation and administration.
- Extensive ArcGIS product experience including ArcGIS Enterprise/Pro/Online.
- Experience with virtualization/hypervisor platforms (VMware, Citrix, Hyper-V, Nutanix).
- Strong enterprise security, GPU, load balancing, and monitoring know-how.
- Hands-on with Kubernetes, Docker, microservices, and deployment tools (Puppet, Chef, Terraform).
- Familiarity with private cloud, on-premise, and hybrid environments.
Responsibilities
- Provides technical expertise for system design, implementation, assessment, consulting, hosting, and managed services.
- Builds enterprise system solutions based on architecture designs and infra provisioning.
- Automates deployments and optimizes repeatable processes.
- Creates and manages database solutions including enterprise geodatabases.
- Ensures solutions are tested, vetted, and meet customer expectations.
- Supports GIS enterprise architecture workshops and prepares material in advance.
- Mentors others in enterprise system technologies and knowledge transfer.
- Leads requirements gathering, test cases, administration guides, and deployment manuals.
