Job summary

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Correction seeks an inmate work supervisor for its farming operations. The role provides direction and training to inmates, monitors activity, and ensures security of equipment while enforcing institutional rules.

Responsibilities

• Provides work direction and training to inmates assigned to farming operations
• Monitors inmate activity and maintains custody of assigned inmates
• Maintains security of state equipment and supplies
• Maintains order, discipline and security and enforces rules and regulations of institution
• Instructs inmates in specific segments of farming operation (e.g., milking cows; storing food; planting gardens; care and breeding of livestock)
• Provides instruction relative to operation, maintenance and storage of farm equipment; performs minor repairs
• Prepares reports and maintains routine records pertaining to farm operations; maintains inventory and prepares stock requests
• Performs inmate duties in emergency situations (e.g., riot, lock-down) and during shortages
