Job summary

The City of St. Peters is seeking an experienced GIS professional to coordinate development, implementation, and operation of the City's GIS. This role provides technical leadership for citywide GIS operations and supports staff with training and assistance.

You will establish standards for GIS data, ensure accuracy of geographic information, and assist with strategic plans and budgets related to GIS and networks. Join a team delivering reliable data and informed decisions for the community.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized to work in the U.S.
• Bachelor's degree in Geography, Computer Science, or related field with 4 years of experience or an equivalent combo.
• Five+ years of GIS design, implementation and management experience.
• Experience with ESRI software.
• Knowledge of workstations, scanners and plotters.
• Experience maintaining software in a client/server environment.
• Experience maintaining and troubleshooting Oracle or SQL Server databases for spatial data.
• Experience with data modeling.
• Experience maintaining websites.
• Experience importing and exporting GIS data.
• Missouri Motor Vehicle Operator's license (MO).

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff including training, scheduling, performance evaluation, and involvement in hiring/terminations.
• Develop standards, workflows and processing procedures for GIS data.
• Provide GIS technical support, training and assistance to City staff.
• Respond to user requests and implement GIS-related solutions.
• Research and implement quality control procedures for GIS data integrity.
• Coordinate city-wide GIS plans and implementation strategies.
• Maintain systems and web resources for geographic data via Internet/Intranet.
• Assist with budget development, policies, schedules and IT-related needs.
• Work with spatial databases to manage geographic information.
• Handle confidential information appropriately.
• Follow City safety standards and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

This position provides technical leadership for citywide GIS operations, supports staff through training and technical assistance, establishes standards and workflows for GIS data, and helps ensure accurate and reliable geographic information is available to support effective City operations and decision-making.

Normal Shift

Monday-Friday; 8:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee the development, implementation, and daily operation of the City's GIS.
• Supervise staff, including training, scheduling, performance evaluation, and participation in hiring and termination recommendations.
• Develop standards, workflows, and processing procedures for GIS data used throughout the City.
• Provide GIS technical support, training, and assistance to City staff.
• Respond to user requests and help identify and implement effective solutions to GIS-related challenges.
• Research and implement quality control procedures to maintain the accuracy and integrity of GIS data.
• Coordinate the development of city and countywide GIS plans and implementation strategies.

• Assist with budget development, administrative policies, schedules, plans, and operational strategies related to GIS and computer network needs.
• Work with spatial databases and support the effective management and use of geographic information.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.
• Bachelor's degree in Geography, Computer Science, or a related field and four (4) years of applicable experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Five (5) years of practical experience in GIS design, implementation, and management.
• Experience with ESRI software.
• Knowledge of workstations, scanners, and plotters.
• Experience maintaining software in a client/server environment.
• Experience maintaining and troubleshooting Oracle or SQL Server databases in support of spatial data.
• Experience with data modeling.
• Experience maintaining websites.
• Experience importing and exporting GIS data.
• Motor Vehicle Operator's license valid in the State of Missouri.
