Job summary

State of Missouri’s Office of Geospatial Information (OGI) seeks a GIS Solutions Engineer to maintain and enhance its ArcGIS Enterprise, Enterprise Geodatabase, and ArcGIS Online platforms. You will plan deployments, upgrades, data schemas, and automate server tasks while collaborating with ITSD and GIS teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, Environmental Science/Geology, or closely related field with strong GIS/IT emphasis.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro and extensions (Spatial Analyst, Network Analyst, 3D Analyst, Geostatistical Analyst).
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise System, ArcGIS Servers, ArcGIS Monitor.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with Enterprise Geodatabases administration, database design.
  • Experience with ESRI cloud-based technology utilized by ArcGIS Online.
  • Experience in Python (ArcPy/ArcGIS API for Python) or SQL scripting.
  • Ability to learn and integrate different technology platforms for GIS solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Consult and closely work with the GIS Team Manager to evaluate and plan organizational GIS needs.
  • Plan, coordinate, facilitate, and work on ArcGIS Enterprise deployment, maintenance, and upgrades.
  • Plan, coordinate, facilitate, and work on Enterprise Geodatabase deployment, maintenance, and upgrades.
  • Provide guidance on GIS data acquisition, implementation, and Geodatabase schema management in consultation with GIS Manager.
  • Automate server upgrade processes and monitor/troubleshoot servers and services.
  • Develop custom tools/scripts in Python and troubleshoot complex issues with ITSD and Application Development teams.
  • Plan and coordinate desktop software upgrades with Desktop Management Team.
  • Design and develop ESRI ArcGIS Online Web apps including experience builder, dashboards, web maps, field maps, and hub sites.

The Office of Geospatial Information (OGI) is seeking to fill a GIS Solutions Engineer position for providing support to maintain it’s cutting edge GIS infrastructure. You will be involved in developing, managing, upgrading and maintaining ArcGIS Enterprise System, Enterprise Geodatabase, ArcGIS Online/Velocity Administration. You will be involved in developing policies and strategies, methodology for utilizing GIS Enterprise and database usage.

  • The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.

This position is within the Office of Administration Information Technology Services Division, Office of Geospatial Information (OGI).

This position will have special working conditions such as occasional work outside of business hours for production deployment and maintenance.

  • Consult and closely work with the GIS Team Manager and other team members to evaluate and plan organizational GIS needs.
  • Plans, coordinates, facilitates, and works on ArcGIS Enterprise deployment, maintenance, upgrades.
  • Plans, coordinates, facilitates, and works on Enterprise Geodatabase deployment, maintenance, upgrades.
  • Provides guidance on GIS data acquisition, implementation, and management of Geodatabase schema, with consultation with GIS Manager.
  • Automate server upgradation process. Monitor servers, troubleshoot server and services.
  • Apply service patch/resolve cyber security issues.
  • Develop custom tools/scripts in Python. Troubleshoot complex issues. Closely work with other Application Development team in troubleshooting.
  • Plan and coordinate desktop software upgrade with Desktop Management Team.
  • Plan, design, and develop ESRI ArcGIS Online Web applications including experience builder, operations dashboards, custom interactive web map applications, field maps applications, and hub site with custom initiatives.
  • Serves as an expert on spatial technology matters. Participates in other GIS activities as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, Environmental Science/Geology, or closely related field with strong GIS/IT emphasis.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro and extensions (such as Spatial Analyst, Network Analyst, 3D Analyst, Geostatistical Analyst etc.).
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise System, ArcGIS Servers, ArcGIS Monitor.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with Enterprise Geodatabases administration, database design.
  • Experiences in ESRI cloud based technology that are utilized by ArcGIS Online.
  • Experiences in Python (especially ArcPy/ArcGIS API for Python), Arcade or any other scripting language such as Java Script, SQL programming desired.
  • Ability to learn and integrate different technology platforms in creating solutions for complex business needs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex GIS applications.
  • Ability to convey technical information and concepts to non-technical staff and stakeholders.
  • Serves as expert on spatial technology matters.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • Ability to define a problem, analyze relevant information, and develop solutions and plans to solve the problem.
  • Ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to be self-motivated, exercise independent judgment and take action on it.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to changing GIS technologies and capabilities.
  • Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate’s name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.
