Job summary

Arbormetrics (AMS) is seeking a GIS Analyst to transform spatial data into actionable insights that support safe and efficient utility operations, from urban corridors to remote forests. You will analyze spatial data, maintain GIS databases, perform analyses, and generate reports with Excel; collaborate with field crews to integrate GPS data; and help ensure data quality and regulatory compliance.

Travel may be required; a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience with GIS software and databases (ESRI Suite)
• Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS)
• Experience with spatial data formats and coordinate systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Basic programming/scripting knowledge (Python, SQL) is a plus
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed

Responsibilities

• Analyze spatial data to support utility vegetation management and infrastructure planning.
• Create, maintain, and update GIS databases, maps, and dashboards.
• Perform spatial analyses to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Respond to data inquiries and support field crews with reports and maps.
• Manage databases and enter data; generate reports with Excel.
• Collaborate with field teams to integrate GPS data into GIS.
• Generate reports and visualizations to support decision-making and regulatory compliance.
• Ensure data accuracy and consistency across platforms and projects.
• Support QA/QC processes for spatial data and field data.
• Assist in developing automated workflows using GIS tools and scripting.
• Travel may be required for field data collection.
