Job summary

The role emphasizes academic standards, supervision of coaches, safety, and sportmanship. CPR/First Aid certification is required or planned; Virginia teaching license or classified employee status

Qualifications

• Coaching experience or participation in the sport at high school or college levels.
• CPR and First Aid training or enrollment in current CPR and First Aid training course.
• Prefer experience as a teacher or classified employee in Loudoun County Public Schools.
• Prefer a Virginia Teaching License candidate or a full-time classified employee for LCPS.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining high academic standards for all student athletes.
• Assist athletic director and principal in hiring and/or retention of assistant coaches.
• Direct, supervise, and evaluate regularly the performance of all assistant coaches of the respective sport.
• Work cooperatively with the athletic director to assure proper insurance coverage for all athletes.
• Work cooperatively with other head athletic coaches to operate a well-balanced athletic program.
• Foster values of athletics, sportsmanship, and pride in self, team, school, and community.
• Direct training, conditioning, and performance of the varsity athletic team; lead and supervise assistant coaches.
• Be present at varsity contests and supervise athletes at JV/ freshmen contests when possible.
