Job summary

Schwartz Farms, Inc. seeks a Manager of Gilt Development to oversee gilt production management across GDUs and ensure timely supply of gilts to sow farms.

This role requires leadership of supportive staff, coordination with multipliers and transport firms, and frequent travel across central Minnesota and neighboring states. You will drive gilt health, vaccination, biosecurity, and recordkeeping while collaborating with Unit Managers and the Director of Farrowing Production to optimize throughput

Qualifications

• Ability to prioritize and plan work activities to use time efficiently.
• Strong understanding of gilt development and sow farm flow experience is preferred.
• Excellent communication, judgment and decision-making skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism; able to represent Schwartz Farms well.
• Maintain PQA certification and adherence to safety and biosecurity protocols.

Responsibilities

• Oversee gilt development staff and gilt movements to ensure supply to destination sow farms.
• Coordinate visits to GDUs and manage gilt health, vaccination, and biosecurity protocols.
• Monitor gilt death loss, vaccination schedules and load transportation in coordination with managers.
• Maintain records, report gilt status and participate in weekly production and health calls.
