Job summary

TAR in Austin, Texas is hiring a Site Selection Manager to own the land sourcing pipeline for gigawatt-scale solar-plus-storage projects. You will identify, qualify, and bring large tracts of land to the table for evaluation by leadership.

Expect extensive West Texas travel to meet landowners, review records, and build local relationships. You’ll use GIS, parcel data, and AI-assisted outreach to scale the pipeline and ensure timely deal flow.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in land acquisition, land brokerage, landman work, real estate, or energy or infrastructure development.

Responsibilities

• Build and own TAR's land sourcing pipeline across West Texas, screening hundreds of thousands of acres for size, contiguity, terrain, solar resource, and access so the strongest sites reach evaluation first.
• Use parcel, GIS, and mapping tools to identify large, assemblable tracts, map ownership, and flag constraints such as floodplain, easements, mineral and surface rights, and existing infrastructure before time is spent in the field.
• Run direct outreach to ranch owners, families, trusts, institutional and state landholders, brokers, and local land agents, turning cold contacts into active conversations and signed letters of intent or options.
• Travel across West Texas to walk sites, meet landowners face to face, and pull deed, title, and appraisal district records at the county level, building the local relationships that surface off-market land.
• Prepare clear site packages for the site development lead, covering ownership, acreage, price expectations, title and encumbrance flags, and preliminary environmental and access notes, so evaluation decisions move in days, not weeks.
• Coordinate early diligence with title companies, surveyors, and environmental consultants, keeping each workstream moving and escalating issues that could kill or delay a deal.
• Keep the pipeline current in TAR's CRM and trackers, reporting acreage under conversation, under LOI, and under control so leadership always knows where the land position stands.
• Find new ways to source land at scale, from data-driven parcel screening to AI-assisted outreach and research, and replace slow, legacy acquisition habits with faster methods that work.
