Job summary

District seeks a GT/Testing Coordinator to lead gifted services, plan instruction for GT students, and coordinate with campus staff. The role requires strong experience with GT programs, curriculum planning, and district-wide GT initiatives.

The position reports to the Principal and operates within the Human Resources framework. Exempt, full-time, and based in a campus setting with regular meetings and development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Meet Texas "highly qualified" standards.
  • Texas Teacher Certificate appropriate for level and subject area (required for ESL/Bilingual, SPED and preferred for other subjects).
  • Extensive knowledge of working with G/T students
  • 3 years successful gifted and talented education teaching experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan a program of study that meets individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Prepare lessons with accommodations for individual differences.
  • Prepare for classes and show written evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guide learning toward curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for lessons and projects.
  • Employ instructional techniques and media suitable for the students involved.
  • Implement the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals.
  • Assess student progress and provide reports as required.
  • Refer students for evaluation by district specialists as required.
  • Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate records per law and policy.
  • Assist administration in implementing policies and rules.
  • Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and maintain order.
  • Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes.
  • Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers; evaluate performance.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Participate in district and campus staff development.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees.
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues.
  • Communicate with students, parents, and community members.
  • Submit lesson plans timely in the school platform.
  • Maintain a minimum number of grades in Gradebook.
