Job summary

Tulsa Public Schools seeks a Gifted and Talented Coordinator to lead the district's K-12 GT program, design and evaluate service delivery, oversee screening, and monitor services for compliance with district and state plans.

The role chairs the GT Advisory Committee, manages the program budget, maintains the state plan and reports, and serves as evaluator of record for GT Instructional Mentors within the district leadership team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Three years of successful gifted and talented education teaching experience.
  • Oklahoma teaching certification required; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate districtwide K-12 gifted and talented service delivery.
  • Oversee G/T screening and identification processes.
  • Manage the program budget and annual state reports for G/T.
  • Chairs District Gifted and Talented Advisory Committee and ensures district/state plan compliance.

Salary/Grade: Educational Grade 05 | EG-5

Position Summary

The Coordinator of Gifted and Talented leads the district's K-12 gifted and talented program. The role designs and evaluates the districtwide service delivery model, oversees student screening and identification, and monitors school-based G/T services for compliance with district and state plans. The Coordinator chairs the District Gifted and Talented Advisory Committee, manages the program budget, maintains the district’s state-approved G/T plan and required state reporting, and serves as evaluator of record for the G/T Instructional Mentors. The role serves on the Assistant Superintendent’s Leadership Team and advocates districtwide for the needs of gifted students.

Key Functions
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates the districtwide K-12 gifted and talented service delivery model
  • Oversees district G/T screening and identification
  • Manages the G/T budget and completes required state gifted and talented reporting
  • Monitors school-based G/T services for compliance with district and state plans
  • Chairs the District Gifted and Talented Advisory Committee
Education
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in education
  • Master’s degree preferred
Experience
  • Three (3) years successful gifted and talented education teaching experience
  • Supervisory experience in gifted and talented education
  • Experience in developing a successful gifted program
Licenses and Certifications
  • Possess an Oklahoma teaching certification required
  • Possess a Valid Drivers’ License
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of working with gifted and talented students
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of settings, including public speaking
  • Ability to move between independent and collaborative work with ease
  • Open to change and applies critical thinking while developing solutions based on new guidelines, methods, and techniques
  • Ability to manage up and down and create buy-in from people with diverse perspectives and backgrounds for new ideas and approaches
