Job summary

Barrington Community Unit School District 220 seeks an Extended (Gifted) Resource Educator to provide enriched and accelerated instruction to identified gifted and high‑achieving students in grades K-5 within a resource model.

The educator will support general education teachers with differentiation and talent development, collaborating with district staff to ensure program fidelity and student growth.

Qualifications

• Current and Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Elementary endorsement.
• Minimum of nine (9) semester hours in coursework in the education of gifted students.
• Experience working with gifted students and general classroom experience.
• Advanced degree or credential in Gifted Education preferred.
• Strong understanding of differentiated instruction, enrichment models, and talent development.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Program Director to screen students using accepted instruments for resource programs.
• Communicate frequently with parents regarding the program and student progress.
• Provide intellectually appropriate instruction to extend learning for gifted students.
• Monitor social-emotional growth and provide support.
• Work with Principal and other Resource educators to develop the program.
• Provide and support challenging activities to general classroom teachers and students.
• Participate in curriculum development and share district Extended programming details.
• Engage in data analysis and data collection on Extended and high-achieving students.
