Job summary

The Old Globe, located in Balboa Park, San Diego, seeks a Part-Time Gift Shop Staff member for seasonal coverage. You will open/close the shop, assist patrons, process sales, and help manage merchandise during productions. Flexible evening and weekend availability aligns with show schedules.

Ideal candidates have prior retail or cashiering experience, strong communication and math skills, and a welcoming demeanor. 20–25 hours/week average, approx. 3.5–4 hour shifts.

Gift Shop Staff - Seasonal Part-TimeThe Old Globe, located in beautiful Balboa Park, is seeking a Part-Time Gift Shop Staff member to join our team at San Diego’s premier regional theatre.Reporting to the Assistant General Manager, and with day-to-day guidance and direction from Gift Shop Supervisors during their shift, Gift Shop Staff are responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the theatre’s Gift Shop before, during, and after performances. This role serves as a key point of contact for patrons, staff, and volunteers, helping create a welcoming, hospitable, and seamless retail experience for all guests.Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Open and close the gift shop for performances and scheduled weekend daytime hoursInteract with patrons and deliver attentive, high-quality customer serviceHandle cashiering and point-of-sale transactionsManage stock, restock merchandise, set up displays and support inventory managementThe Old Globe is actively committed to fostering a culture of equity, diversity, inclusion, & access in all areas of our operation.
