Books-A-Million in Birmingham, AL is seeking an Assistant Buyer to join our Gift merchandising team. This entry-level, hybrid role supports PO creation, item setup, SKU management, and vendor collaborations while learning the fundamentals of category buying.

You will work closely with your assigned Buyer, stores, DC, and marketing to ensure on-time deliveries and accurate data. The role is ideal for recent grads or those with retail exposure who want to grow into buying responsibilities.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in merchandising or a business-related field, or equivalent combination of work experience
• 1–2 years of retail or relevant experience, which may include retail store, customer service, or internship experience
• Basic retail math skills and the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and draw conclusions
• High standards, accountability, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong prioritization and time management skills, with a sense of urgency and the ability to re-prioritize as needs change

Aufgaben

• Purchase Order & Item Management: execute full life cycle of purchase orders, PO creation through tracking and receipt
• Item creation and SKU management, maintaining data accuracy and integrity
• Ensure timely delivery of merchandise via vendor and distribution center follow-up
• Use merchandising systems and Excel to record activity and complete analyses
• Develop planograms for in-store merchandise sets and assist with buying for Gift categories
