Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Greet and prepare patients for GI visits and procedures, taking vitals and histories.
• Assist providers during examinations and procedures; document encounters in EHR.
• Educate patients on prep, after-visit instructions, and follow-up care.
• Set up and stock exam rooms with supplies and instruments.
• Perform high-level disinfection and reprocessing of endoscopes following guidelines.
• Maintain documentation for reprocessing cycles and equipment tracking.
• Ensure infection-control standards and OSHA/HIPAA compliance.
• Schedule appointments, verify insurance, and assist with authorizations if needed.
