Job summary

Wellstar Health System is seeking an Endoscopy Technician I to support the GI Lab. The role assists nurses and physicians, prepares the procedure room, and helps with instrument and scope reprocessing.

Candidates must complete competency requirements for basic GI procedures and maintain infection control standards. Responsibilities include patient transport, equipment stocking, and assisting in procedures while ensuring safety and sanitation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification or equivalent required or eligible.
• SGNA GI Tech Specialist certification or provisional within 90 days.
• No endoscopy experience required; 2-day endoscopy education within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Proficient in general endoscope procedures, equipment and cleaning.
• Fulfills all essential functions of the GI Lab Technician across the Endoscopy lab.
• Prepare for procedures by ensuring equipment and supplies are ready.
• Operate GI equipment and assist physicians during procedures.
• Take emergency call after hours and weekends as needed.
• Maintain infection control standards and support quality improvement.
