Job summary

Wellstar Health System is seeking an Endoscopy Technician I to support GI procedures and endoscope reprocessing. You will assist nurses and physicians, prepare rooms, and ensure safety and infection control in a fast-paced GI setting.

No prior endoscopy experience is required; candidates must complete 2-day endoscopy education within 30 days of hire and obtain BLS certification. The role includes after-hours call as needed and collaboration with the GI team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification (or ARC-BLS) or BLS-Instructor acceptable.
• SGNA GI Tech Specialist certification or provisional path within 90 days.
• No endoscopy experience required; 2-day endoscopy education within 30 days of hire.
• On-the-job training with orientation documentation as determined by facility.

Responsibilities

• Proficient in general endoscope procedures, equipment and supplies.
• Assist nurses and physicians in GI procedures and endoscopy care.
• Prepare procedure room and sterile field for GI cases.
• Operate GI equipment and assist during procedures as directed by physician.
• Take emergency call after hours and weekends as needed.
• Maintain infection control standards and participate in QA/QI activities.
