Job summary

Carolinas Medical Center is seeking an Endoscopy Technician to join the Gastrointestinal Services team. You will support patient care under RN/physician supervision, assist with specimen handling, and help prepare procedure rooms with correct instruments.

Responsibilities include high-level disinfection of endoscopes, equipment maintenance, and documenting procedures and charges. Expect on-call rotations, weekend shifts, and a 40-hour work week with rotating days off as scheduled.

Qualifications

• High school education completed.
• 2 years of Endoscopy Tech experience.
• BLS certification within 6 months as required.
• GI Technical Specialist (GTS) certification within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient care activities under supervision, including intraprocedural support and specimen handling.
• Prepare procedure rooms and equipment per physician specifications and ensure correct instruments are available.
• Perform high-level disinfection and reprocessing of equipment and endoscopes.
• Calibrate, operate and maintain endoscopy equipment and document repairs.
• Document procedures, images and patient charges in the endoscope/ultrasound systems.
• Maintain unit inventory, handle supplies, and perform clerical duties as needed.
• Assist with patient positioning and transportation as required.
• Serve as a resource for equipment troubleshooting and staff training on reprocessing standards.
