Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a GI lab support professional in Wisconsin to assist with patient care and specimen handling in a busy GI lab environment. The role includes intraprocedural support, equipment maintenance, and documentation responsibilities, with on-call duties 3–4 nights per month and every 9th weekend.

Standard hours run 0600–1700, Monday through Friday, with a total schedule of 36 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Typically requires 1 year of experience in a nursing assistant, medical assistant or similar patient care position.
• GI Technical Specialist (GTS) certification within 6 months.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient care activities under supervision including intraprocedural support.
• Assists physicians with retrieval, preservation, labeling and transport of specimens.
• Performs high level disinfection and reprocessing of equipment/scopes.
• Cleans, calibrates, operates and performs preventative maintenance on equipment; documents repairs.
• Documents procedures, images, videos and patient charges using endoscope/ultrasound systems.
• Maintains unit inventory and performs clerical duties (phones, filing, data entry, scheduling).
• Performs patient positioning and transporting duties with safe technique.
