Job summary

Beloit Health System is hiring a Gastroenterology Technician to join our Gastroenterology Department at Beloit Memorial Hospital.

The GI Technician will assist physicians and nurses during GI procedures, transport patients, and maintain equipment while ensuring infection control and patient safety throughout all tasks. This role supports QA efforts and accurate record keeping in a busy lab environment.

Qualifications

• High school graduate with 2–3 years of health care field experience.
• Preferred: Gastroenterology Technician, Endoscopy Technician, Nursing Assistant, or related healthcare role.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and RNs during GI procedures.
• Safely transport patients between the room and lab.
• Set up procedures with appropriate equipment according to the day's schedule.
• Report suspected defects or malfunctions to the RN.
• Assist with sigmoidoscopy, esophageal dilatation, endoscopy and colonoscopy.
• Ensure labeled specimens are transported to the lab.
• Participate in QA monitoring and data interpretation.
• Adhere to infection control policies including aseptic techniques.
• Inspect and clean GI equipment and maintain unit supplies.
• Assist with vital signs monitoring and reporting to RN or MD.
• Complete patient charges and unit records, and participate in QA programs.
