Job summary
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Salt Lake City Health Care System seeks an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN)/Certified Nurse Practitioner in Geriatrics and Extended Care (GEC) Palliative Service.
The NP provides advanced clinical care, consultation, and management with prescriptive authority and works closely with the care team to deliver timely, quality services for veterans. Responsibilities include developing care plans, leading interdisciplinary teams, ordering and interpreting tests,

- APN is a licensed independent practitioner with advanced education and national certification.
- APN role requires prescriptive authority and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized plans to improve quality of life.
- Demonstrate leadership and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team.
- Order, interpret labs and diagnostic studies; adjust care accordingly.
- Prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
- Initiate referrals and consultations with specialty services.
- Educate patients and families about care plans and goals.
