The Veterans Health Administration Manchester VA Medical Center seeks Nursing Assistants to join the Geriatrics/Extended Care teams. Intermittent positions include rotating shifts with weekends and holidays, spanning inpatient and outpatient settings.

As a Nursing Assistant, you will assist with daily living activities, observe veterans' status, document care details, and work with a supervising nurse in a dynamic, 24/7 hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
• May qualify based on grandfathering provision for current VA employees.
• The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-5; initial assignments may be at GS-3 to GS-5 depending on experience.

Responsibilities

• The Nursing Assistant provides direct care in multiple settings (outpatient, inpatient, home or community living care) for veterans with acute to chronic conditions.
• Documents care, observations and responses in appropriate charts or forms and communicates changes to the nursing team.
• Participates in treatment planning meetings and promotes veteran independence through respectful, individualized care.
