MaineGeneral Medical Center is seeking an experienced Triage Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Geriatric Medicine team. You will take calls from patients and caregivers, provide education and referrals, and determine care needs using established protocols.

Qualifications

• Active Maine RN licensure or ability to obtain promptly.
• 1 year of RN experience preferred.
• Strong assessment skills, especially over the phone.
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Proven critical thinking skills with calm, objective responses in emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Take calls from patients/caregivers seeking assistance.
• Provide advice, referrals, and patient education.
• Assess when care is needed and advise caller on appropriate care.
• Conduct nurse-driven wellness visits including intake and cognitive testing.
• Coordinate patient care, scheduling tests, prescriptions, and insurance review.
• Document calls, responses, and referrals; follow up on outcomes.
