Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• Current or eligible Maine SLP licensure.
• ASHA certification or eligibility preferred.
• Strong clinical reasoning and communication skills.
• Interest in geriatric rehabilitation, cognitive wellness, and dysphagia management.
• Ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing evaluations.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on resident needs and functional goals.
• Provide skilled therapy to residents with communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders.
• Support residents experiencing cognitive decline and dementia through individualized interventions.
• Implement strategies that promote functional communication and cognitive wellness.
• Assess swallowing function and provide appropriate dysphagia interventions.
• Collaborate with the therapy team on fall-risk management and functional safety.
• Participate in environmental and home-safety discussions when appropriate to the resident’s discharge needs.
• Educate residents, families, caregivers, and staff on effective communication, cognition, and swallowing strategies.
• Participate in interdisciplinary care conferences and treatment planning.
• Monitor resident progress and modify interventions as needed.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation.
• Promote resident dignity, independence, safety, and quality of life.
