Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Current Maine SLP licensure or eligibility to obtain.

  • Interest in geriatric rehabilitation, cognitive wellness, and dysphagia management.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing evaluations.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on resident needs and goals.
  • Provide skilled therapy for communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders.
  • Support residents with cognitive decline and dementia through targeted interventions.
  • Assess swallowing function and provide dysphagia interventions as needed.

Compensation: $39.50–$44.00 per hour
Schedule: 40 hours per week | Monday–Friday

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join an experienced therapy team in Farmington, Maine.

This 82-bed skilled nursing facility provides post-hospital rehabilitation, short-term therapy, long-term care, and respite services. The clinical team is dedicated to helping individuals recover from illness or injury while providing the specialized support needed to maintain function and independence.

Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing evaluations

Develop individualized treatment plans based on resident needs and functional goals

Provide skilled therapy to residents with communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders

Support residents experiencing cognitive decline and dementia through individualized interventions

Implement strategies that promote functional communication and cognitive wellness

Assess swallowing function and provide appropriate dysphagia interventions

Collaborate with the therapy team on fall-risk management and functional safety

Participate in environmental and home-safety discussions when appropriate to the resident’s discharge needs

Educate residents, families, caregivers, and staff on effective communication, cognition, and swallowing strategies

Participate in interdisciplinary care conferences and treatment planning

Monitor resident progress and modify interventions as needed

Maintain accurate clinical documentation

Promote resident dignity, independence, safety, and quality of life

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program

Current or eligible Maine SLP licensure

ASHA certification or eligibility preferred

Strong clinical reasoning and communication skills

Interest in geriatric rehabilitation, cognitive wellness, and dysphagia management

Ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team
