Job summary

Center for Elders Independence is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to support a multidisciplinary team under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. The role includes planning, teaching participants and caregivers, and assisting with rehab services at multiple sites in California.

The PTA provides hands-on care using exercises, gait and functional training, and modalities as directed. A valid California PTA license and CPR/First Aid are required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree completed and PTA program approved by CAPTE.
• Current California Physical Therapy Assistant license.
• CPR and First Aid certification on file.

Responsibilities

• Assist the physical therapist in carrying out a plan of care to maximize independence while ensuring safety.
• Treat participants to relieve pain and restore function using exercise, manual techniques, and functional training.
• Report progress and changes in participant status to the Physical Therapist.
• Instruct participants and caregivers on care and use of mobility devices and assistive equipment.
• Record thoroughly and timely per PT standards and CEI policy.
• Travel to multiple work sites and residences as required.
