Job summary

Bethesda Health Group is seeking a Staff Physical Therapist Assistant to support the Physical Therapist in delivering goal-directed therapy focused on restoring function for elderly patients. You will help coordinate programs, obtain evaluation information, and set treatment priorities to achieve optimal outcomes.

You will provide caregiver education for discharge and communicate discharge needs to the care team, while performing some administrative duties and assisting with staff and student

Qualifications

• An associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant curriculum.
• Current State License
• CPR certified or willing to obtain within six months of employment
• One to two years of experience with geriatrics preferred
• Qualified new graduates will be considered
• Must have ability to communicate well personally and professionally and possess responsibility, initiative and honesty
• Demonstrates strong desire to work with the elderly and rehabilitation populations
• Requires extensive mobility, transferring patients, moving equipment, lifting, reaching and moving around obstacles
• Fine motor coordination and visual/perceptual skills needed for selecting and implementing treatment tasks

Responsibilities

• Assist PT in delivering goal-directed therapy to restore function.
• Coordinate programs to restore patients to maximum functioning.
• Carry out treatment programs and adjust as needed.
• Obtain information from evaluations and set treatment priorities.
• Provide caregiver training for discharge.
• Communicate discharge needs to the team to ensure smooth transition.
• Perform administrative duties and document department activities.
• Assist with orientation of new staff and students.
