Job summary

Bethesda Health Group is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant (as needed) at Memorial Care Center in Belleville, IL. Work hours roughly 8am–4pm with on-call/as-needed scheduling.

You will assist the Physical Therapist to deliver goal-directed activities and coordinate rehabilitation programs to restore patient function. The role involves evaluating progress, collaborating with the PT, training caregivers for discharge, and ensuring smooth transitions.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
• Current State License as PTA.
• CPR certification or willingness to obtain within six months.
• One to two years of geriatrics experience preferred.
• New graduates considered.
• Must communicate well and act with responsibility and honesty.
• Desire to work with elderly and rehabilitation populations.
• Requires mobility, patient transfer, lifting and equipment handling.
• Fine motor skills and visual-perceptual abilities for treatment tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist PT in delivering goal-directed activities to improve function.
• Coordinate programs to restore maximum patient functioning.
• Carry out treatment plans and modify as needed.
• Gather information from initial evaluation and set treatment priorities.
• Consult with PT for information sharing and collaboration.
• Provide caregiver training for discharge and educate about needs.
• Communicate discharge needs to team for smooth transition to home or facility.
• Handle administrative duties and patient documentation within deadlines.
• Delegate to or supervise aides when appropriate and assist with staff orientation.
