Job summary

Helping Hand Autism Services is seeking a qualified Occupational Therapist to provide skilled therapy under physician-directed plans of care. You will evaluate and treat clients referred by the care team, develop and update plans of care, and contribute to goal setting for improved independence across activities of daily living.

You will collaborate with physicians and staff, design suitable adaptive devices, and educate families on exercises and safety.

Qualifications

• Licensed OT or eligible; registered by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) or licensed in the state.
• Minimum of one year of occupational therapy experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides skilled occupational therapy per physician's plan of care; accepts referrals from client care manager or designee; maintains biannual competency.
• Assists in evaluation and assessment of client functioning; helps develop and revise the care plan; sets goals with the patient.
• Designs orthotics as indicated by client needs.
• Uses therapeutic activities to restore function and self-care; aims for independence.
• Observes, records and reports patient responses; identifies barriers to outcomes.
• Instructs client and family in exercise programs to increase strength and control.
• Collaborates with staff to provide education on therapy when requested.
• Demonstrates and teaches ADL techniques, transfers and positioning.
• Orders and/or fabricates adaptive/assistive devices as needed.
• Evaluates and reevaluates nursing/equipment needs; ensures care plan addresses identified problems.
• Initiates diagnostic, preventive and rehabilitative procedures; makes referrals as indicated.
